Abu
An Angel Chasing Dreams
Meet Abu
Abu is the driving force, the heart and soul behind the Hope and Rainbows project. The stories behind these 12 wonderful paintings are touching, and Abu’s story itself is the most touching.
Abu was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in 2012 with a survival rate as low as 8%. It was almost hopeless to pursue one’s dreams under these circumstances. But the young Abu did not conform to the cruel reality. Instead, she took up the challenge, and step by step, she lives out her incredible second life.
Abu’s motto is ‘Accept fate, but not failure’. She believes in the power of faith. She believes she can do it. She even had her own art exhibition in the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall, plus published her own book, started her career in illustration and column-writing, gave speeches to share her story, volunteered in children hospital wards, participated in charity work and gained a Master’s degree. She realized her dreams one after another.
Abu has knocked at the death’s door but now she treasures life more than ever. She has made a promise to her friends – ‘take courage to chase dreams, for oneself and for others, no matter what’.
Abu finds power from her own experiences. She draws her pictures to heal herself, at the same time, to spread the healing power of love to others.
